SLEDGE MICROTOME

SKU: GI-B3009 Categories: ,

Description

This heavy-duty sliding (sledge) microtome is designed for precise sectioning of hard specimens such as plastic molds, wood, brass, copper, and similar materials. It enables section cutting within a thickness range of 0 to 20 microns. The knife-holding clamps allow the blade to be positioned at an angle to the cutting direction, providing superior performance when sectioning large or dense samples. Built with a robust and stable structure to minimize vibration, this microtome is also suitable for various industrial applications, including sectioning wood, plastics, and textile fibers. However, it is not recommended for extremely hard resins like araldite due to potential vibration risks. The sledge microtome is ideal for preparing sections of bone, plastics, resins, and wood, as well as large soft tissue samples. Its heavier blades are specifically designed for tough materials such as wood, bone, and leather, though it does not produce sections as thin as a standard microtome.
