Description

To demonstrate and compare the linear expansion of different metal rods when heated, thereby showing the effect of temperature on various materials. A cast iron base with two uprights which supports metal rods of three different metals – Brass, MS and aluminium horizontally and holds them in position mounted securely with clamping knobs. Attached Lever with Pointer connected to one end of the rods to amplify and display expansion with scale graduated from 0-90^o

Working Principle: (NOT MEANT FOR CATALOGUE)

• When metal rods are uniformly heated, they expand.
• The expansion is transferred mechanically to a pointer system.
• The difference in expansion among different metals can be observed via deflection.
