To visualize transverse wave motion and its characteristics such as wavelength, amplitude, and frequency in a mechanical medium. Consists of 18 rods each rod is attached to an eccentric disc at the base rods oscillate up and down when the crank handle is turned which is manually operated on one side to rotate the camshaft. Eccentric disc/ cams mounted on a rotating shaft, offset cams arranged progressively to simulate wave propagation. Some rods fitted with coloured balls to highlight individual oscillations for wave tracking. Mounted on wooden base.
Working Principle: (NOT MEANT FOR CATALOGUE)
Converts rotational motion to periodic vertical motion
Demonstrates sinusoidal wave propagation with phase shift between successive rods
